The
University of South Florida is
among the top 63 public research
universities in the country,
currently drawing in more than $300
million in sponsored research funds.
The synergy that grows out of the
use of current technology to both
generate royalties and fund new
research that will foster additional
technology is especially noteworthy.
USF opened its doors in 1960 to
2,000 students. Today, the USF
System welcomes more than 47,000
students from across the country and
around the globe.
In 2010, USF was 9th in the world for universities receiving patents. |

The
National Academy of Inventors
was founded at the University of
South Florida to recognize and
encourage inventors who have a
patent issued from the U.S. Patent
and Trademark Office; enhance the
visibility of university technology
and academic innovation; encourage
the disclosure of intellectual
property; educate and mentor
innovative students; and translate
the inventions of its members to
benefit society. A researcher's
contribution reaches the benchmark
of inventorship as recognized by the
U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
because its discovery had no
significant prior art, was not
obvious to someone else skilled in
the field, and had a specific use.
Although every invention and every
inventor is unique, some things are
common to all. It takes imagination
and ingenuity to be an inventor. The
National Academy of Inventors serves
a valuable role in the translation
of science and technology within the
university community, and for the
benefit of society. For members of
the Academy, this organization can
serve to encourage creative thinking
and the spirit of innovation,
promote and enhance the development
and utilization of inventions, and
provide advice and guidance to new
and existing inventors in their
work. |

Accuform
Signs traces its origins back more than 30 years, when Ron &
Veronica Johnson focused on creating a company to meet a growing need for high
quality, affordable facility safety identification. From this small venture that
offered just one type of custom product, the Johnson's gradually expanded,
working to build the Accuform name and product line. Today, Accuform remains
family-owned, the founding focus set-forth decades ago by Ron & Veronica
continues today. Since those first custom signs rolled off of the production
line, Accuform has worked hard to establish a reputation built on quality,
flexibility, convenience, industry knowledge, and customer service. With that
reputation, Accuform is now considered the leading facility safety
identification supplier in North America and beyond. |
