Competition
There are three stages to the young innovator competition:
Students conceive, document and submit their new invention by January 27th using the
submission form
;
Pre-Judging identifies the top sixty (60) inventions. All competitors in the top sixty receive medals of science and technology;
The
National Academy of Inventors at the University of South Florida
(USF) reviews the top sixty submissions on February 1st and selects the top five (5) inventions from elementary, middle and high school students for a total of fifteen (15) finalists;
The finalists attend a two (2) hour workshop at USF on the Saturday before the finals to fine-tune their presentation skills.
On Friday, February 10, 2012 finalists gather for the
final competition
at USF at 6:30 PM.
Grand prize
winners are selected that night.
