Competition

There are three stages to the young innovator competition:
  1. Students conceive, document and submit their new invention by January 27th using the submission form;
  2. Pre-Judging identifies the top sixty (60) inventions.  All competitors in the top sixty receive medals of science and technology;
  3. The National Academy of Inventors at the University of South Florida (USF) reviews the top sixty submissions on February 1st and selects the top five (5) inventions from elementary, middle and high school students for a total of fifteen (15) finalists;
  4. The finalists attend a two (2) hour workshop at USF on the Saturday before the finals to fine-tune their presentation skills.
  5. On Friday, February 10, 2012 finalists gather for the final competition at USF at 6:30 PM.  Grand prize winners are selected that night.
